Special policies should be made for hill states… CM Dhami demanded in Niti Aayog meeting

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the Niti Aayog meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday. Here he said that Uttarakhand is working continuously to achieve the goal of a developed India. Uttarakhand is a highly vulnerable state in terms of disaster. He thanked the Prime Minister for making special financial provision for this in the Union Budget.

Chief Minister Dhami said that Uttarakhand has bagged the first position in the recently released Sustainable Development Goals Index ranking, which is a matter of pride for the state. The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, the state has passed the Uniform Civil Code Bill in Uttarakhand.

Special work is needed on water conservation

The Chief Minister said that there is a serious drinking water crisis in many cities of the country, to solve this problem, there is a need to do special work on water conservation along with increasing the underground water level. For this a Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority has been formed in Uttarakhand, which is working on projects for water conservation and rejuvenating water sources and linking snow-fed rivers with rain-fed rivers. For this he requested special financial assistance and technical assistance from the Central Government.

The Chief Minister said that for a developed India, there is a need to promote more entrepreneurship in rural areas, for which cluster-based incubation centers and growth centers will prove important. Two rural incubation centers and 110 growth centers have been set up as pilot projects in Uttarakhand. He requested technical and financial assistance from the central government for setting up incubation centres.

Demand for PM Agricultural Irrigation Scheme

To meet the power shortage, the Chief Minister approved a proposal to allow states to approve and implement hydro power projects of less than 25 MW capacity and also provided a proposed 24 percent capital subsidy for construction of small hydro power projects along the north. -Eastern states requested to apply it to Himalayan states also. The Chief Minister also requested to include lift irrigation in the guidelines of PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana.

The Chief Minister said that we need to pay special attention to important topics like global warming and climate change. Keeping this in mind, Uttarakhand government is paying special attention to implement development schemes in harmony with ecology and economy. The issue of GEP on the lines of GDP has been started in the state.

Focus on AI readiness and quantum readiness

The Chief Minister said that in any developed nation its urban areas make a special contribution as engines of development. Employment generation is high in big cities, which makes it difficult to provide basic amenities due to high population in these cities. To solve this problem counter magnet area has to be developed between different cities of the country. He said that the vision of a developed India by the year 2047 requires special focus on AI readiness and quantum readiness for research, development and innovation.

The Chief Minister said that in the eighth meeting of the Niti Aayog last year some proposals were made regarding the development of the Himalayan states, on those proposals he requested to formulate specific policies with respect to the Himalayan states.
