JDU national executive meeting

A national executive meeting of Janata Dal (United) was held in national capital Delhi on Saturday. Senior party leaders including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar were present in this meeting. According to sources, the meeting discussed whether Bihar should get special state status or a special package. JDU will strongly present its stand and demand before the central government on this issue. The proposal has been approved by the National Executive.

Not only this, the party has also decided to contest the Jharkhand assembly elections. The meeting also discussed the review of the Lok Sabha elections and the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. Bihar assembly election 2025 will be fought under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. This is a clear message from the party. According to sources, Sanjay Jha may be made the acting chairman. Jharkhand independent MLA Saryu Rai may also join JDU. In the national executive meeting, the Jharkhand unit of the JDU demanded the induction of Sarayu Rai and some other leaders into the party.

What JDU leaders said before the meeting?

All the MPs and Ministers were present in this meeting besides Executive Members, General Secretary, Secretary and State President. Meanwhile, all the decisions taken by the party in recent times, its impact, performance in the Lok Sabha elections and future strategy for the assembly elections to be held next year were discussed.

JDU leader Neeraj Kumar said, ‘We can definitely say that the results of the 2024 elections have made it clear in the country’s politics that politics revolves around Nitish Kumar ji.’

What did PM Modi say about JDU?

On the news of party leader Sanjay Jha being made the national working president of JDU, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said, ‘I have also heard about it, but we have to wait for the final decision.’ Earlier on Friday, Nitish Kumar left for Delhi from Patna to attend the JDU national executive meeting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that JDU and BJP will continue to work together for good governance in Bihar. PM Narendra Modi said this after meeting JDU MPs in Delhi.

In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the JDU contested 16 seats in Bihar and won 12 seats. In addition, the party is also represented in the Union Cabinet as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government. JDU is one of the main alliance partners of BJP.
