Samajwadi Party leader and former MP Azam Khan has got a big relief. The court has granted relief and acquitted him in the case of violation of the code of conduct. The MP-MLA Magistrate Court acquitted Azam in this case. Azam Khan was presented by the VC as he is currently lodged in Sitapur Jail. Considering all the evidence and witnesses, the court acquitted Khan in the case.
This case pertains to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, when Azam Khan was contesting as a Samajwadi Party candidate. He was accused of violating the code of conduct and trying to exert undue pressure by driving his vehicle to the polling station. A case was registered against him in Ganj Kotwali under this charge.
What was the matter?
However, despite the acquittal by the MP-MLA Magistrate Court, Azam Khan may not come out of jail. He has several other cases pending against him in which he has been convicted or accused. Azam Khan was accused of violating the code of conduct by reaching the polling station in his vehicle, which was within a radius of 200 meters. A code of conduct is enforced during elections. There is a rule that no vehicle can come within 200 meters of the polling station.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the then SDM Sadar and Returning Officer filed a case against Azam Khan under Section 171 F of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 133 of the Representation of the People Act. The police registered a case of violation of the code of conduct and filed a charge sheet in the court. The case was pending in the MP-MLA Magistrate Trial Court. Both sides concluded arguments on August 13, after which the court today acquitted Azam Khan in the case.
