Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav
Assembly elections are to be held in Jammu Kashmir and Haryana in the month of September. Election preparations are going on in full swing in both the states. New veteran leaders are also preparing to try their luck in this election. One of them is Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav, who is trying hard to get his party the status of a national party. The Samajwadi Party is gearing up to contest seven seats in Jammu and Kashmir to achieve national status and increase its presence in other states.
SP president Akhilesh Yadav has made Jialal Verma the state president of Jammu and Kashmir for election preparations. Verma has also handed over the list of names of candidates to Akhilesh Yadav. The list may be released today. The point to be noted here is that the Samajwadi Party is contesting the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections without an alliance with the Congress. The SP did very well with the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections, but the SP did not find a place in the Congress alliance in Kashmir.
Akhilesh is eyeing Muslim-dominated seats
SP is preparing to field candidates on seven seats of Jammu and Kashmir. These seats are Muslim dominated. Pulwama, Rajpora, Kulgam, Sopore, Anantnag and Kishtwar are those seats. Congress is contesting elections in Jammu and Kashmir in alliance with the National Conference. In such a situation, there is little hope of the Samajwadi Party getting any seat in the coalition in Jammu and Kashmir. However, Akhilesh Yadav is all set to try his luck in Kashmir. It is not the first time that SP is contesting elections in Kashmir. Even before this SP has fielded its candidates here. Former MLA and MP Sheikh Abdul Rehman was SP’s state president.
It became the third largest party in the country in the Lok Sabha elections
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Samajwadi Party has won 37 seats, being part of the India Bloc. The Samajwadi Party has become the third largest party in the country with 37 MPs in the Lok Sabha. After the Lok Sabha elections, SP National President Akhilesh Yadav is looking confident and is busy getting the party the status of a national party. For which they are demanding seats from the Grand Alliance in Maharashtra, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, but they do not seem to agree with the Congress in these states.
