Bridge collapsed in Gandak Canal

Another bridge has collapsed in Bihar. A bridge over the Gandak Canal in Siwan district collapsed on Saturday. However, no casualties were reported. A video of the bridge collapsing has also surfaced. As soon as the information was received, the officials of the administrative system reached the spot. An official said that the bridge was old. At the same time, due to the collapse of the bridge, communication with dozens of nearby villages has been lost.

The incident took place in Ramgarh panchayat of Darunda block of the district. According to people this bridge was very old, but the canal was built two years ago. It is alleged that the construction of the canal was negligent, due to which the strong flow of water was constantly washing away the soil from the bridge piers. Due to which the pillars of the bridge started to sag.

Traffic has come to a complete standstill due to the collapse of the bridge. Built on the Gandak Canal, this bridge connects Patedhi Bazar of Maharajganj block and Ramgarh panchayat of Darunda block. Thousands of people used to go from one side to the other with the help of this bridge, but now people have to cover a long distance even to go to the nearest village. Children are facing a lot of trouble to go to school, old people who used to cross the bridge from one side to the other in a short time are now facing a lot of trouble. Was this canal built a year ago negligent? Now due to the collapse of the bridge they have to travel long distances from one place to another which is affecting their daily work. The outraged villagers have demanded an inquiry into the bridge collapse and prompt legal action against the culprits.

Recently, the bridge built at Padaria Ghat of Bakra River in Araria also collapsed suddenly. It was a matter of luck that the bridge over the Bakra River was not inaugurated.
