Phulpur village of Hathras… where crowds of people started gathering yesterday before the morning rays. As the sun rose, thousands of women, men, children and the elderly were seen immersed in faith. A huge pandal was built on about 150 bighas of land in the village next to the National Highway and about 1 lakh devotees thronged it. It echoed everywhere, ‘May Narayana Sakar Hari always triumph in the entire universe.’

All is quiet now. The whole village is silent. An accident changed everything. Even after a day of the incident, the screams of the people are echoing in the minds of the villagers. Mud and belongings are scattered at the scene. Uprooted tents and traces of people in the mud convey the horror of the accident. At present there is an atmosphere of fear in the village. This is an event that the villagers will never forget.

80 thousand permitted, 2.5 lakh crowd gathered

Sikanderrao police have registered an FIR regarding the accident. The prosecutor says that permission was taken to gather a crowd of 80,000 people for the event. About 2.5 lakh people attended the event. In such a situation, the question is that such a huge crowd kept gathering but no arrangements were made by the district administration.
