Changing shoe sizes proved expensive for a couple in Jalandhar, Punjab. Enraged by the exchange, the shopkeeper attacked the couple. He was beaten and abused in the middle of the market. Husband and wife were injured after the shopkeeper beat them. He was taken to hospital for treatment. The couple has made serious allegations against the shopkeeper. The police have registered a case against the shopkeeper based on the complaint of the victim couple. The accused shopkeeper is absconding since the incident. Police say he will be arrested soon.
The case pertains to Jalandhar city’s busiest market. According to information, an altercation broke out between a shopkeeper and a customer over changing the size of shoes at the shoe market near Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk (Jyoti Chowk). Meanwhile, the victim couple has accused the shopkeeper of assault. The police are investigating the matter.
Uproar over shoe size change
The aggrieved customer says that he bought the shoes from the market. When he went home and put the shoe on, it was the wrong size. He came to the shop to change his shoe size. When he asked to change the shoes, the shopkeeper started arguing with him. It is alleged that the shopkeeper then assaulted him. In their statement to the police, the couple said that they bought the shoes from a stall at Main Chowk. But he was facing a problem with size. Due to which he came to the shopkeeper to change the size.
The woman was also beaten
The victim alleged that the shoe shopkeeper had abused her husband earlier. When he protested, the shopkeeper beat the husband. The woman alleged that when she intervened in the incident, the shopkeeper also misbehaved with her. The woman has alleged that the shopkeeper also assaulted her. Both were injured in this incident. Based on the statement of Mahtab and Sardar Ahmed, residents of Kala Sinha Road, the police have registered a case against Pakka Bagh Dilpreet Singh, son of Raghuveer Singh. It is being said that the police have registered a case against Dilpreet Singh under BNS 115 (2), 74, 75, 79 and 3 (5). The accused are yet to be arrested.
