In this fragmented form, Bholenath has been providing welfare to his devotees for these three hundred years. Here this broken Shivlinga is worshiped in the name of injured Mahadev or old Mahadev. On this fourth Monday of Sawan, we are going to tell the story of the temple of the injured Mahadev, which has been located in Mughalpura, Ghazipur since the 17th century.
This temple of Bholenath is situated on the bank of Ganges in Mughalpura area of Sadar Kotwali area in Ghazipur city. Here some part of the Shiv Linga present in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple has been cut off. According to local people, there was Mughal rule in the 17th century. At that time there was agriculture in this place. One day while cultivating, the farmer’s shovel hit something solid in the ground. There was a loud noise and blood flowed all over the place. When the people present at the spot removed the soil, they found a Shivlinga lying inside. Blood was flowing from the part of this Shivlinga where the shovel touched.
Bholenath came in a dream
Seeing this, people got suspicious. He became afraid of evil. It is said that Bholenath appeared in the farmer’s dream that very night and asked him to build a temple at this place. The next day the farmer told this to the villagers and then they all built the temple together. Since then Bholenath is worshiped here in the name of injured Mahadev.
