A huge controversy is going on regarding the Sanjauli Masjid in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. The Hindu community claims that the illegal construction has taken place and should be demolished. Thousands of people have taken to the streets on Wednesday regarding this demand. To prevent people from reaching the mosque, the police put up barricades, which the people broke down. The police lathi-charged the crowd. Enraged by this, the people also clashed with the police. One policeman has been injured.
Demonstrators angry with the lathi charge are also protesting against the police. The police have chased away the agitators from the Sanjauli Bazaar, while preparations are underway to evacuate the agitators from the Sanjauli Chowk. There is continuous protest going on here. Demonstrators gathered at Sabzi Mandi Dhali and raised slogans of Jai Shri Ram and Hindu Ekta Zindabad.
