Subhash Ghai spoke about this in an interview given to Bollywood Hungama in the year 2020. He said, “We composed the music in two days. I took a small studio in Andheri and invited Sonu Nigam there. I told Sonu that he has to sing this song very loudly.

Subhash continued, “We had two days left. Shah Rukh was very supportive throughout the film, but in the end he had to leave two days ago. Maybe Gauri was pregnant. He (Shah Rukh) said that he has to go to Delhi and he cannot extend the shooting for 2-3 more days.

Subhash Ghai also said in an interview, “I asked him to come at 7 am and we had already kept the car ready. I only asked him to give me 3 close-up shots. That day I shot that song in just 2 hours. If we look at that song, there are many locations in it. All the long shots in it were shot with Shahrukh’s duplicate. Shahrukh gave only close-up shots.

The film was a huge earner

The film proved to be a superhit at the box office. The film grossed 4 times its budget. According to Box Office India, the film cost Rs 10 crore to make and grossed Rs 40.95 crore at the worldwide box office. Apart from Shah Rukh and Mahima, stars like Apoorva Agnihotri, Amrish Puri, Alok Nath were also seen in this film. Aditya Narayan was also seen as a child actor in this picture. Mahima’s character in this film was named Ganga. According to reports, Subhash Ghai auditioned more than 3 thousand girls for the role. One day, at a party, he saw Mahima and cast her in the role of Ganga.
