Shah Rukh Khan was seen drinking heavily in this film. However, Shahrukh Khan started drinking alcohol after this film.
Shah Rukh Khan’s film ‘Devdas’ is still counted among the best films of the Hindi film industry. Shah Rukh Khan played the role of ‘Lost Drunkard’ in this film. Although Shah Rukh Khan did not want to do this role, he did this film only because of his mother. The actor himself revealed this at the Locarno Film Festival recently.
Drink alcohol during the shooting of ‘Devdas’
During the film festival, Shah Rukh Khan revealed that, “During the shooting of Devdas, I was very disturbed, I even drank alcohol to play the character. It might have helped me, but I started drinking after this film and that’s the disadvantage of playing an alcoholic character.
She said yes to ‘Devdas’ because of her mother
Shah Rukh Khan further said, “When Sanjay Leela Bhansali offered me Devdas, many veterans advised me not to do the role. But I thought my mother would like this film, because I had seen the 1995 release Devdas, starring Dilip Kumar, in the theater with my mother and she loved it. In such a situation, I always thought that if I do big films, my mother and father will see me from heaven. It’s a childish thought, but I still believe my mother is a star.”
