The flood situation is becoming serious in West Medinipur and Hooghly districts of West Bengal. Roads are submerged in water. Houses are submerged and crops destroyed. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached the district on Wednesday to take stock of the situation. He visited the flood affected area in Ghatal. First of all he reached Purshura and took stock of the situation. Meanwhile, CM Mamata Banerjee had to face opposition from local women.
Flood victims started protest against Mamata Banerjee. People expressed their anger against the Chief Minister. One said to the Chief Minister, “Even the tarpaulin has not arrived.” Even food has not come. Another woman said, “We suffer from floods every year.” In reply, the Chief Minister said, “I know. Water is coming out

At the same time, a man named Gopal Jana of Harihar Police Station area again said that the Chief Minister did not speak to him. Go to higher ground, they said, but where is it? There is no tarpaulin etc.”
Another woman complained that she could at least stand and watch after arriving. Will she help? Otherwise we will drift away. At least repair the dam. He came and bid her farewell and left.
Mamata visited the flood affected areas
Mamata Banerjee spoke to Superintendent of Police Dhrutiman Sarkar and District Magistrate Khurshid Ali Qadri. He inquired whether the relief was properly reached in the flood affected areas. According to sources in the administration, Mamata will stay in West Medinipur on Wednesday night.
The situation in areas like Daspur, Debra has become deplorable due to the Kansai river dam breaking. Water has entered the villages since night. A 10-year-old child died due to floods in Keshpur.
The waters of the Kansai River at the head of the Loda Sadar Ghat in Debara have started entering the village. Locals were trying to stop the water with sandbags since Tuesday night. But it didn’t work. Many people had to spend the night awake due to water entering the village. Debra police and local administration are trying to deal with the situation.
Hooghly and West Midnapore affected by floods
Areas like Ghatal, Chandrakona, Daspur are also submerged in water. A part of a two-storey house collapsed due to water in Rampur area of Gaura Gram Panchayat of Block 2 of Daspur on Wednesday. Palashpal canal dam is collapsing. Administration officials have reached the spot and evacuation of people and belongings from the house is underway.

The Kansai river embankment has also broken in Samat village of the first block of Daspur. A large area of the village was submerged in water. The local people are scared because of the dam breaking one after another.
