Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar
Between 1971 and 1975, 10 films written by Salim Javed were released. So far the success percentage of this pair was 100. Every film was successful. Sholay and Dewar released in 1975 were bumper hits. This was followed by the film ‘Akhri Daan’ in the same year, but this film did not work. Turned out to be a colossal flop. The last installment had Jeetendra and Saira Banu in lead roles. Apart from this, Danny Dengjogpa, Padma Khanna and Ranjith were also seen in the film. The film was directed by E Salam.
After the flop of ‘Aakhri Daan’ came the Salim-Javed scripted film ‘Iman Dharam’, but that too flopped. The film featured veteran actors like Shashi Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Aparna Sen, Helen and Prem Chopra. The film was directed by Desh Mukherjee. After a film like Sholay, the writer duo of Salim-Javed faced a major setback when the two films flopped badly back to back.
The real story will be seen in the documentary series
The story of Salim and Javed has been told for decades. In many interviews, the two have talked about working together and then parting ways. But till today hardly anyone knows the complete story of this amazing couple. But now this story is being told. Prime Video has produced a documentary series on Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. He has been named ‘Angry Young Man’. In this series, the pages of the life of both will be turned which hardly anyone has read till date.

The trailer launch event of ‘Angry Young Man’ was held in Mumbai on Tuesday. Javed Akhtar’s wife Shabana Azmi, son Farhan Akhtar and daughter Zoya Akhtar attended the event. On the other hand, Salim Khan’s entire family was also present in this event. Apart from Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan, Arpita Khan Sharma, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, Arbaaz, Sohail and Arpita’s children were also seen in this event. Salman Khan dominated the entire event with his fun style.
The trailer of the docu series starts with Salman Khan. Salman says, “See, I have given many interviews. But this is the first time I am nervous. The trailer of the series also features Zoya Akhtar. She says, “They did about 24 films together, 22 of which were blockbusters. This has not happened before and I don’t think it will happen again.
Who is the director of ‘Angry Young Men’?
In the trailer of this docu series, many big stars are seen talking about the pair of Salim and Javed. Apart from Salman and Farhan, veteran stars like Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, KGF star Yash, Shatrughan Sinha and Jaya Bachchan are seen praising Salim-Javed. The docu-series is directed by Namrata Rao and will have three episodes. The docu-series will release on August 20 on Prime Video.
