PM Modi expressed grief over the West Bengal rail tragedy

A major train accident has occurred in West Bengal’s Darjeeling this morning. A freight train hit the Kanchenjunga Express train coming from behind near Rangpani station here. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over this accident. He tweeted on social media handle X that the train accident in West Bengal is sad. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones.

PM Modi has prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. He has also said that he has spoken to the authorities regarding the incident and reviewed the situation. PM has also announced compensation. 2 lakh rupees will be given from PMNRF to the families of those killed in the train accident. 50,000 will be given to the injured. He has said that a rescue operation is underway to help the affected people. Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav is also reaching the accident site.

8 dead, 25 injured

How serious the collision was can be gauged from the fact that the rear three bogies of the Kanchenjunga Express train were badly damaged. One bogie came over another bogie and hung in the air. Another bogie was found overturned on the track. Officials said that these three bogies were the worst damaged in the mishap. Eight people have died in the accident, while 25 passengers are reported to have been injured. There is a strong possibility that the death toll will reach double digits. DM and SP have also been sent to the spot. Rescue work is going on war footing.

Ashvavini Vaishnav also expressed condolences

Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav has also expressed grief over this incident. He has said that an unfortunate accident has taken place in the NFR area. Rescue work is going on war footing. Railways, NDRF and SDRF are working in close coordination. The injured are being taken to the hospital. Senior officials have reached the spot.
