SA vs ENG: South Africa won by 7 runs, Harry Brook’s half-century went in vain

South Africa defeated England by 7 runs in a thrilling Super 8 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. South Africa challenged England to score 164 runs to win. England gave a tough fight while chasing these runs. Therefore, England needed 14 runs in the last over. But South African captain Aiden Markram caught Harry Brook in the last over and turned the match in their favor. England lost on the last ball. South Africa could only score 156 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. This became South Africa’s sixth consecutive and second Super 8 victory.

On the other hand, earlier England won the toss and forced South Africa to bat. Despite a great start, South Africa could only reach 163 runs in 20 overs. Quinton de Kock scored the highest 65 runs for South Africa. David Miller added 43 runs. Reeza Hendricks added 19 runs. Heinrich Klaasen scored 8, captain Aiden Markram scored 1, Tristan Stubbs scored 12* and Keshav Maharaj scored 5*. Jofra Archer took 3 wickets for England. Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid both got 1-1 wickets.
