The first Test match played between India and Bangladesh in Chennai has ended in just 4 days. As expected, Team India won here very easily. This Test will be remembered in the years to come for Ravichandran Ashwin’s brilliant performance, who took a century in the first innings and 6 wickets in the second innings on his home ground to ensure the team’s victory. But apart from Ashwin, this Test will also be remembered for wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, who returned to Test cricket with this match and scored a brilliant century. Pant, who played his second brilliant innings in Test cricket, also said after the match that he was nervous and didn’t want to take any risks.

Everyone was eagerly waiting for this match to be played in Chepauk. First team India was playing test cricket after 6 months. The most important thing is that Rishabh Pant is making a comeback in this format after more than a year and a half of road accident. Pant was seriously injured in a car accident in December 2022. He played a Test match against Bangladesh even before the accident. He then returned from the IPL in March this year and was also part of Team India’s T20 World Cup victory. However, the wait was for Test cricket and here he returned from the Chennai Test.

Why was Rishabh Pant nervous?

Pant scored a brilliant century in the second innings of this match and got the team out of difficult situations and laid the foundation for the victory. As always, Pant batted aggressively but not once did he get nervous approaching his century, instead he was a bit nervous about something else. After Team India’s win, Pant said that he was very nervous about the Test, which is natural for Team India playing any match, but Pant said that his return to Tests after almost 2 years was the main reason. Pant called Test cricket close to his heart and so it is not surprising that he feels that way on his return here.

Didn’t want to take this risk

Pant, who has gained recognition for his aggressive, explosive and ‘dangerous’ cricket, certainly said that he does not want to take any kind of risk this time. Now what is this risk? In fact, Pant was talking about batting in the second innings. He said that the position in which he came to bat in the second innings was not good for Team India. He said that if one more wicket had fallen during that period, the team would have been in trouble, so Pant decided not to take too many risks at that point and decided to play according to the situation. His decision proved to be quite correct as he put on a brilliant partnership of 167 runs with Shubman Gill and scored 109 runs himself.

That’s why I got emotional

Pant also said that this century was special for him in many ways and hence he got emotional after crossing the 100-run mark. He said that his return to Test cricket was very special for him, as he wanted to play in every format after his injury, so this century was emotional for him. Pant also expressed his feelings about playing in Chennai and said that he has always loved playing at this ground.
