Police lathi-charged football supporters in protest against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. Due to which many people are feared to be injured. Demonstrations and strikes are taking place against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor. Meanwhile, the Kolkata Police invoked Section 144 and organized a procession and demonstration near RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Then, on Sunday, police canceled a derby football match between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan at the Yuva Bharti Krirangan in Salt Lake. The police took this decision to prevent any untoward incident.

The Vidhannagar Commissionerate claims that the protest procession of the supporters was a risk of noise, but still their supporters arrived in large numbers and started protesting. The police resorted to lathi charge to disperse the protesters and are arresting the supporters.
