Recruitment of Excise Constables in Jharkhand becoming ‘Death Recruitment’, 14 killed so far

The controversy over the recruitment of 583 posts for Jharkhand Excise Constable (Excise Constable Recruitment) by the Jharkhand State Staff Commission (JSSC) shows no signs of abating. Due to the death of candidates after physical examination, it is called “death constable recruitment”. The physical examination (RACE) for the recruitment process of Product Constable started from August 22. It was postponed after the death of 12 candidates.

This recruitment process is once again started from 10th September with new rules. A candidate named Muramulla Surya has died during treatment at RIMS, the state’s largest hospital located in the capital Ranchi. The deceased candidate Muramulla Surya was the son of Muramulla Adinarayan, a resident of Burmamines Kanchan Nagar East Plant Basti in Jamshedpur district of Jharkhand. He reached the center at Ranchi Smart City Dhurwa on September 12 for physical examination.

14 deaths now after physical examination

He was admitted to RIMS Hospital in Ranchi after his health deteriorated during the race. Muramulla Surya died on Saturday during treatment. Including Muramulla, 14 candidates have died so far after the physical test of the recruitment exam. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party reports a death toll of 16. The constable recruitment competition in Jharkhand is in the thick of politics after more than a dozen candidates died in the race.

Where the Bharatiya Janata Party is giving financial assistance of one lakh rupees to the families of all the deceased. Also, the state government is demanding a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the families of each of the deceased and a government job. After the recent cabinet meeting, state health minister Banna Gupta said that all the cabinet ministers would give financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the families of the deceased from their salaries.

Financial assistance will be provided by the state government

Health Minister Banna Gupta says that the state government will also provide financial assistance to the families of all the deceased. Following the death of a large number of candidates, the recruitment process was halted at the Chinki Airport ground in Palamu, one of the 7 centers selected for the race across the state by the Jharkhand Police Headquarters. The recruitment process for other 6 posts continued as before.

The process of death does not stop

The time was changed and instructions were given to complete the run before 9:00 AM. Along with this, the facility of providing ORS and fruit to the candidates before the race was also started. Besides this, medical teams including ambulance are present at all the centers with sufficient medicines. Despite all the arrangements, the number of deaths during the product constable recruitment exam shows no signs of abating.
