Why was the decision taken?
Live Mint, citing sources, claimed that Tata Motors will be purchasing battery packs for its electric vehicles from a Chinese manufacturer. Meanwhile, according to Business Daily, Tata Motors will be sourcing batteries from China’s Octillion Power Systems to further improve its performance. Currently, Tata Motors sources batteries from Tata Autocomp. The leading Indian automobile manufacturing company also sells electric vehicles in India. In this category, the company currently includes Tiago, Tigor, Punch, Nexon, and its recently launched Tata Curve.EV cars. However, the company will soon launch an EV model of Harrier as well. The recently launched Curve.EV is made using China’s Octillion battery.
