Trinamool Congress General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee on the RG Kar Medical College incident in West Bengal said that the incident is very disgusting. He said that the state government is taking the matter seriously and an accused has been arrested within 24 hours. He said that the rapist has no identity whether he is a policeman, a laborer or anything else. It’s just a killer.
Abhishek Banerjee said that I saw many political parties came out on the streets with flags. Instead we should bring an ordinance or a bill so that we can get speedy justice within 7 days.
He said that the opposition BJP leaders should bring a bill to punish rapists within 7 days and the task of TMC and Congress as opposition parties is to support the bill. Abhishek said why the trial will take 5-6 years? A mother and father lost their daughter. Only they can know his pain. It should be the responsibility of the political parties, the media and the judiciary to bring justice to the family collectively.
On the issue of Bangladesh, MP Abhishek Banerjee said that West Bengal is in danger given the current situation. But it is not appropriate for me to speak on this issue as it is an international matter and the Ministry of External Affairs is looking into it.
