Child lifter gangs in Ranchi
The theft of jewellery, mobile phones, cars and chains is common, but now children are being stolen in both these Jharkhands, don’t be surprised! In fact, there have been cases of bikes being stolen and sold at exorbitant prices in the capital Ranchi. Actually a couple from Bokaro district came from outside Ranchi railway station. Both were working as laborers in Surat. His 6-month-old daughter was also with him when he reached Ranchi railway station while returning by train from Surat. At the same time, a woman named Pinky Devi, who was associated with a child kidnapping gang, tricked the couple into stealing their 6-month-old baby girl.
After stealing the girl, Pinky Devi made a deal with two women named Poonam Devi and Seema Devi for 1.5 lakh rupees. The girl’s family lodged a complaint of her theft at the Chutia police station in Ranchi. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, on the instructions of SSP, police inspector cum station in-charge Laxmikant of Chutia police station and other police personnel started an investigation to find the girl at the earliest.
The search for the girl was carried out in 24 hours
The police found the 6-month-old girl in just 24 hours. Acting in this case, the police have arrested three women who were involved in the sale and purchase of baby girl. The first accused in the case, Pinky Devi, Seema Devi and Poonam Devi, have been arrested, while Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha said that there is a gang active, who do not have children. Gang members steal children and give the stolen bike to a childless couple.
Where are children stolen from?
To give away the child, the gang members pick up the couple at Ranchi railway station, bus stand and other places and steal their innocent child. Then they sell that child at a high price. Police have arrested 3 people in this case, while questioning more people.
This is not the first case of bike theft in Jharkhand, about 2 months ago a 6 month old girl was stolen, a 9 month old Shubham Kumar who was sleeping with her mother on the divider outside Ranchi railway station was also stolen. After the theft, Shubham’s family living in Cuttack, Odisha, paid about Rs. Sold for 58 thousand.
