IPS Rajeev Kumar became the DGP of West Bengal again

Rajeev Kumar has once again been appointed as the DGP of West Bengal. Before the Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission had transferred Rajiv. BJP accused Rajiv Kumar of working for Mamata government. After the incident in Sandeshkhali, several opposition leaders raised questions on the DGP and demanded the Election Commission to remove him from the post of DGP. After this, the commission took action and transferred him to a non-elective post.

Rajeev Kumar was again appointed as the DGP of West Bengal almost a month and a half after the code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections was lifted. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s most trusted officer Rajeev Kumar was appointed as the DGP of West Bengal Police on 31 December 2023. He was working in the same post in the state till March this year.
