Vikas Bagga was murdered in April this year
Punjab Police has arrested a wanted suspect in the murder case of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vikas Bagga of Nangal. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the case. This breakthrough for the police comes four months after the arrest of the two shooters involved in the case, Mandeep Kumar alias Mangi and Surinder Kumar alias Rikka.
On the evening of April 13 this year, VHP Nangal Mandal President Vikas Prabhakar alias Vikas Bagga was shot dead by two unidentified assailants at his shop located on Railway Road in Nangal. One of the attackers was wearing a helmet and the other had his mouth covered with a muffler. Both came on a black scooty.
Arrested after investigation into financial transactions
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the CI Ludhiana shared the information with the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police after investigating the financial transactions and gathering intelligence and carrying out a scientifically conducted investigation. After this, a joint operation was conducted in Punjab and Jammu-Kashmir, which led to the arrest of accused Mukul Mishra, a resident of Gonda, UP.
He said that preliminary investigation revealed that the accused Mukul Mishra had purchased the weapons used in Vikas Bagga’s murder through his bank account. He said the police teams have also identified two suspects, including another person who bought the arms.

The DGP said that the arrested accused Mukul Mishra was also wanted in a case registered under Section 379-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 25 of the Arms Act under FIR 55 registered in the year 2024 at Police Station Division 2, Ludhiana. . He said further investigation was underway and police teams were conducting raids to nab the fugitives.
