While the entire country is happy due to rain, this rain is becoming a disaster for the people of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Due to heavy rains in neighboring states and areas, the situation in Prayagraj has become miserable. Both Ganga and Yamuna rivers have reached the danger mark in the district. Thousands of people are affected by it. Hundreds of villages have been cut off from major roads. 10 thousand families are directly affected by the flood. Thousands of people have become refugees in their own cities.

The water of Ganga and Yamuna river in Prayagraj has made sleepless nights for people. Both rivers are eager to touch the mark of danger. Only a few cm left. More than 20 areas of the city and 150 villages have been affected due to floods. Hundreds of houses have been flooded. Instead of roads, boats have started moving in the streets. More than ten thousand people in the district have been affected by the floods in one way or another. A large number of people have left their homes and taken shelter in relief camps.

Reduction in flood waters

The relief is that the flood waters in both the rivers have started receding now. The danger mark in the district is considered to be 84.734 meters. On Monday morning, the water level of both the rivers reached 84.10 meters while the danger mark is 84.73 meters. According to the flood bulletin issued by the district administration at 4 pm on Tuesday, Yamuna river was flowing at 83.59 m in Naini, Ganga was flowing at 83.91 m in Phapmau, similarly in Chhatnag it was flowing at 82.81 m. At present both the rivers have started flowing at a speed of 4 cm.

The administration launched 60 boats on the roads

Even though the water level of Ganga and Yamuna is receding, the process of reaching the relief camps continues. By the next day i.e. Monday night, a total of 1640 people belonging to 374 families had taken shelter in seven relief camps set up in the city. Flood and disaster in-charge Vinay Kumar Singh says that a total of 60 boats have been launched to take common citizens to safety. Relief and rescue work is going on continuously. NDRF and SDRF teams are delivering relief materials to flood victims. People are coming to relief camps. Food and water are arranged for everyone. Medical teams are also on alert. Instructions have been given to the SDM to carry out continuous inspection at all places. Currently people are very scared, they are being given relief.
