Find out where the case stands
It has been 19 days since the CBI investigation, but so far no major breakthrough has been made in the case. The CBI is not ready to take a final decision based on the DNA report provided by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory.
On August 13, the sample was submitted for DNA report by Calcutta Police at CFSL Kolkata. Samples include samples taken from the private parts of the deceased, skin and hair samples from fingernails, and hair samples from crime scenes. Also the clothes, blankets and sheets of the deceased were taken as samples.
Clash over CFSL report
Blood sample of prime accused Sanjay Roy and his clothes worn that night were taken as samples. The request letter was issued by an Additional Commissioner of Police level officer on behalf of the Kolkata Police. The CFSL authority had initially sought 10 days to prepare the report.
But on the request of the Kolkata Police, CFSL agreed to submit the report within 6 days, but as the CBI took over the investigation on the court’s orders on the same day, confusion arose as to which investigating agency CFSL would submit. Since the report, with the Kolkata Police and they were not investigating, they did not approach the CFSL, so the report remained with the CFSL officials.
Finally on August 26, with the permission of the court, the CBI collected the DNA report. The CBI did not want to comment on the report. According to sources, CBI also handed over some samples to CFSL after taking over the investigation. The report of that sample is yet to be prepared.
CFSL report will be scrutinized by AIIMS
According to sources, according to a report prepared on the basis of samples submitted by the Kolkata Police, Sanjay Roy’s DNA matches with the swab found from the private part of the deceased. Samples of injuries on Sanjay Roy’s body were matched with samples from the fingernails of the deceased. Hair found at the crime scene matched Sanjay’s DNA. Sanjay’s DNA was also found in the saliva sample of the deceased. The CFSL report does not mention the existence of any other person.
The CFSL report has been sent to experts at AIIMS for review, sources said, until the report of the sample sent by the CBI comes, the CBI is not ready to take a decision.
The case will be heard in the Supreme Court on September 5
Sources said that after the report, the CBI will match the circumstantial evidence and take further action. The CBI is expected to get the report before the Supreme Court hearing on September 5. Then we will get the clue to the end of this mystery. Now it will be seen what report the CBI presents to the Supreme Court on September 5.
