Sharad Pawar has won in MCA.

Sharad Pawar’s candidate Ajinkya Naik has won the Mumbai Cricket Association elections. Ajinkya Naik will now be the new president of MCA. He has defeated BJP backed candidate Sanjay Naik. Naik was supported by BJP President Ashish Shelar. The victory of Sharad Pawar’s candidate is taking on many meanings, as the assembly elections are also scheduled to be held in Maharashtra this year.

After Ajinkya Naik’s victory, Sharad Pawar has made a strong return to the Mumbai Cricket Association after 8 years. In 2016, after the Lodha Committee report, the senior Pawar resigned as MCA president.

Pawar proved twenty again?

In 2022, Amol Kale, close to Devendra Fadnavis, became the president of the Mumbai Cricket Association, but died this year. After this Shelar nominated Sanjay Naik. Shelar is currently also the Treasurer of BCCI.

Sharad Pawar confided in and supported his old close friend Ajikya. Initially, the equations that were being created said that the Pawar group would be lagging behind, but in the end Pawar made a big play.

When the election results came in, Ajinkya got 221 votes, while Sanjay got 114 votes. According to the Election Officer, Ajinkya won the election by 107 votes.

How did Sharad Pawar win?

Mumbai Cricket Association revolves around 5 big leaders. The first name in this is Sharad Pawar. The second name is that of Uddhav Thackeray’s personal secretary Milind Narvekar and the third name is that of NCP (Sharad)’s Jitendra Ahwad. BJP’s Ashish Shelar and Devendra Fadnavis are also at its center.

Milind Narvekar was the most talked about this time, but Pawar convinced Narvekar not to contest the presidential election. Jitendra Ahwad also got ready to fight against Ajinkya. Ashish Shelar’s equation was spoiled by the coming together of these three leaders.

Sharad Pawar also benefited from his modus operandi. It is said that Sharad Pawar does not take advantage of hardcore politics in the Cricket Association.

Pawar has been a great cricket administrator

Sharad Pawar has been a veteran cricket administrator. Along with the Board of Control for Cricket in India, he has also been the president of the International Board of Control for Cricket. Pawar was instrumental in organizing the ODI World Cup match in Mumbai in 2011.

In 2016, the Lodha Committee submitted a report to the Supreme Court, which said that people above the age of 70 should not hold the post of cricket administrator. Sharad Pawar had to leave his seat after this report.

He also became strong in politics

83-year-old Sharad Pawar has also become strong in politics in the last few years. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Sharad Pawar’s 8 MPs have reached the house after winning. This number is double from 2014 and 2019. In 2009, Pawar’s party finally won 8 Lok Sabha seats.

Sharad Pawar’s performance is also important because there was a split in his party only last year. Nephew Ajit Pawar sued NCP along with all the big leaders.

Ajit also laid claim to Sharad Pawar’s stronghold Baramati. He fielded his wife Sunetra against Supriya Sule. However, Supriya managed to win the election from Baramati.

In western Maharashtra, NCP’s stronghold, India won 5 out of 10 seats and the NDA alliance got 4 seats. Pawar’s eyes are now on the Maharashtra assembly elections. Elections will be held on 288 seats in the state later this year.

Pawar also dominates in cooperation

Sharad Pawar also dominates the co-operative sector of Maharashtra. Co-operative sector is considered to be a very important sector in Maharashtra from a political point of view. 2.5 lakh cooperative societies in Maharashtra are directly supervised by cooperative departments. These committees work for farmers on the ground.

Sharad Pawar’s grandson Rohit takes over in Pune. Apart from this, Jayant Patil, Prajakta Tanpure, Balasaheb Patil and Rajesh Tope are also veterans of the cooperative sector. Sharad’s old close associates Dilip Valse Patil and Chhagan Bhujbal also have a lot of influence in the field of cooperation.
