A political storm has arisen in Maharashtra after the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was broken in high winds. The statue was installed 8 months ago on the sea shore in Malvan, Sindhudurg. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Shiv Sena (UBT) party workers and supporters of BJP leader Narayan Rane gathered at the site where the statue was demolished. Soon there was a clash between the supporters of both the parties.

Mahavikas Aghadi leaders and BJP supporters came face to face at the Rajkot fort, following which a fierce brawl broke out between the two. However, the situation is under control. Heavy security forces have been deployed in the area. Malvan Bandh was announced by Mahavikas Aghadi today, after which several leaders of Mahavikas Aghadi including Aditya Thackeray, Jayant Patil, Vijay Vedettiwar, Ambadas Danve reached Rajkot Fort and inspected the incident site. After this, the rally proceeded to the tehsil office.

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde says that this is not the time for politics on the issue of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj falling down. Public Works Minister Ravindra Chavan is investigating the cause.
