Narhi Police Station, District Ballia, Uttar Pradesh

Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh has never needed any recognition. A saying for Ballia, ‘Land of Heroes, Country of Soldiers, Rebel Ballia Uttar Pradesh’ is very famous. This proverb was not created like that, the revolutionaries of this district troubled the British before independence. After independence, Jayaprakash Narayan and Chandrasekhar came out from here and gave a new direction to the country. Well, today Ballia is in the limelight for another and very embarrassing reason. The police stationed here for the security of the citizens have been caught robbing the people.

Ballia Samajwadi Party MLA Sangram Singh Yadav says till now public bidding was done for police stations and outposts in Ballia and since then inspectors and sub-inspectors who bid the highest were made in-charges of kotwals or outposts. There are creamy police stations and outposts. However, this has been confirmed for the first time in a joint raid by Varanasi ADG Piyush Mordia and Azamgarh DIG Vaibhav Krishna. MLA Sangram Singh in a special conversation with TV9 Bharatvarsh said that six months ago in the assembly he himself raised the issue of selling police stations in the district.

ADG DIG conducted the raids on Wednesday-Thursday night

There was a lot of discussion on the issue and following their complaint, the ADG and DIG conducted these raids on Narhi Police Station and Korantadih Checkpoint in Ballia on Wednesday-Thursday night. These two officers also raided Bharoli check post. The results of this raid are not only shocking but also embarrassing for the entire police department. It has been revealed in this raid that the police stationed at Korantadih outpost alone are charging Rs 5 lakh per day. Around 1000 trucks pass in front of this post every day and each truck fetches Rs. 500 is charged. This recovery is duly recorded in the diary and the entire amount of 5 lakhs is disbursed on the next day.

500 per truck is charged at both the posts.

Out of this amount, how much is given to the Captain, how much to the Additional and Deputy SPs and how much is given to the constables posted here up to the Inspector level, is given in this diary. The situation is exactly the same at Bharauli check post in the same police station area and here too Rs 500 is charged from 1000 trucks that pass through there every night. So far we have told the story, which was revealed by police officials through press conferences or other means by Friday evening. Now he will tell the story, which the police have recorded in his case diary for investigation.

The brokers made big revelations during the interrogation

This narrative has been prepared based on the interrogation of police personnel and their pimps caught during the raids. The arrested brokers said during interrogation that their duty was to collect extortion money from the trucks passing through Bharauli Intersection and in front of Korantadih Chowki. The amount received during this collection is recorded in the diary, but during the collection he also keeps some amount in his pocket without entering it in the register. In such a situation, every broker used to earn one and a half to two thousand rupees per day. Similarly, the constables arrested from the spot stated that the inspector himself is on duty at both the places every day.

An inspector earns 25 thousand rupees in a night

A Constable or Head Constable who is on duty is very lucky. A constable or a head constable earns at least 10 to 15 thousand rupees a night if he gets duty on any of these two posts. Similarly, Post Incharge i.e. Inspector also earns 20 to 25 thousand rupees per day. After taking the share of constable and sub-inspector after whole night recovery, this amount comes to around 3 to 3.5 lakh rupees. This amount is distributed according to percentage.

The entire game is based on the information of the chief: a former police officer

The seized diaries do not detail the percentage of captains and additional SPs to COs, but there is enough detail that it can be easily calculated. According to retired Deputy SP PP Karanwal, such things always happen during postings at police stations. The big thing is that there is nothing in it that the District Police Chief is not aware of. Everything is done with the knowledge and consent of the chief. He said only ‘special’ people are appointed in Creamy police station and post.

Creamy police stations have posts of ‘special’ people

On the other hand, according to highly reliable sources of Ballia Police itself, this kind of fraud starts with the posting of Kotwal or Outpost In-charge at any police station or outpost. In fact, there are many police stations in Ballia including Narhi, Bairia, Maniyar, Udan, which are counted among the creamy police stations. In these police stations, only those policemen who offer the highest lump sum are posted and then agree to make at least one substantial offer every month. This arrangement has been around for a long time, though it was confirmed for the first time in the raids of ADG Varanasi and DIG Azamgarh.
