Petrol becomes cheaper by 65 paise and diesel by 2 rupees, Ajit Pawar’s big announcement

In the supplementary budget presented by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, a provision has been made to equalize the value added tax on petrol and diesel across the state. This will provide relief to the common citizens as well as the industry and trade sector. With the aim of equalizing the value added tax on petrol and diesel across the state, it has been proposed to reduce the current tax on diesel from 24 percent to 21 percent in the municipal areas of Brihanmumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai. Also, it has been proposed to increase the current tax on petrol from 26 percent plus Rs 5 twelve paise per liter to 25 percent plus Rs 5 twelve paise per liter. This will provide relief to the common citizens as well as the industry and trade sector. Due to this change, the price of petrol in Thane, Brihanmumbai and Navi Mumbai will be reduced by about 65 paise and the price of diesel by about 2.7 paise per liter.

“The revised tax estimate of the state for the financial year 2024-25 is Rs 3,26,397 crore. The budget target of revenue for this financial year has been fixed at Rs 3,43,040 crore. To provide relief to the common citizens as well as industrial centers, a provision has been made to make the value added tax on petrol and diesel uniform across the state”, Ajit Pawar said.

‘Or’ Force personnel exempted from professional tax

Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar has exempted the personnel of five central armed forces from business tax in this budget. Armed personnel performing national duty in Central Armed Police Force, Assam Rifles, Central Industrial Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force, National Security Guard and Sashastra Seema Dal have been exempted from paying business tax. This will benefit about twelve thousand soldiers.

If the stamp duty on a registered instrument is found to be underpaid, the penalty imposed on the difference in stamp duty will be reduced from 2% to 1% per month from the date of execution of the instrument. Also, the process of online application for stamp duty refund will be started. The time limit for applying for this has been increased from six months to one year from the date of purchase of the stamp.
