Pandit Laxmikant Dixit, the chief priest who led the 121 Vedic Brahmins who participated in the ceremony of installing Ramlala in the Ayodhya temple, passed away this morning. He was ill for the last few days. Finally, he passed away this morning. He was 86 years old. On hearing this news, the whole country was in mourning. He was bedridden for the last several years. He breathed his last in Varanasi. Many people condoled the death of Dixit.

Pandit Laxmikant Dixit played an important role in the Pran Pratishtha Puja of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya in January. All the pujas were performed under his leadership. His son and other family members also participated in this puja. He also participated in the inauguration puja of Kashi Vishwanath Dham in December 2021.

Had a special relationship with Maharashtra

Laxmikant Dixit’s health deteriorated this morning and he breathed his last in Varanasi, his family informed. He was well versed in every mode of worship. His cousin Ganesh Dixit Bhatt had initiated him into the Vedas and rituals. Laxmikant Dixit has a deep connection with Maharashtra. It is said that Dixit’s ancestors also participated in the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. After his demise, many people have paid tribute.

After the news of the death of Pandit Lakshmikant Dixit, the followers of Sanatan tradition are in mourning. After this news, Ganeshji Shastri Dravid, a supporter of Prime Minister Modi and the one who fixed the time for the consecration of Ram temple, also expressed his condolences.
