The case of rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata has gained momentum. The Federation of Resident Doctors Association has announced a strike on Monday demanding justice and security. Along with this, the organization has also threatened to boycott the work for an indefinite period regarding the demands of five points. On the other hand, there has been an uproar in Kolkata for the last three days against the killing of a junior doctor. Junior doctors are continuously protesting and boycotting work. Due to which the health system of the state has also been badly affected. Although the police have arrested a civilian volunteer in the case, the agitators are adamant on the agitation demanding action and security.

A meeting of the Federation of Resident Doctors Association was held at Delhi’s RML Hospital on Sunday. After the meeting, the association demanded a CBI probe into the rape and murder case of a lady doctor in Kolkata. On behalf of the association, it has been said that the government should take strict measures to protect the doctors.

He said that doctors do not trust the West Bengal government. The intervention of the central government has been sought. The doctors’ strike will affect OPD, OT and ward services in other states including Delhi. Because of this, patients will have to face a lot of trouble in many government hospitals across the country, including in Delhi, on Monday. The organization has asked the government to accept its demands in time so that patients do not face inconvenience.

On the other hand, even after the removal of the superintendent of Kolkata’s RG Car Hospital, the agitation is not abating. Even in Kolkata, doctors have announced a strike in hospitals across the state.

The protest continued throughout the day at the hospital

RG Tax Chaos

Many student organizations of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, including SFI, came together and staged a day-long protest on the issue, irrespective of party affiliation. Even after the removal of Super Sanjay Vashishta on Sunday, the agitators have not relented from their demands. Junior doctors said that removing super is like putting dust in the eyes.

He said that Acharya Sandeep Ghosh should be removed. In a four-point written demand, including a judicial inquiry and disclosure of CCTV footage, he said the hospital’s principal and head of the chest and lung medicine department should apologize and resign. They have made it clear that they will continue the strike until this demand is met. He has also called the leading people of the society to participate in this program.

Police assured justice, students remained steadfast

Vineet Goyal

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police (CP) Vineet Goyal reached RG on Sunday afternoon for investigation. Senior police officers were also with him. Members of Kolkata Police’s SIT, formed to probe the rape and murder cases, also visited the hospital for the first time on Sunday. He asked the agitating doctors to report if they suspected anyone. Police will give full cooperation. CM Mamata Banerjee has already ordered strict action against the culprit, but the agitating students remained steadfast in their demand.

Find out what happened

RG tax (1)

The body of a junior doctor on duty was found on Friday morning in the fourth floor seminar hall of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The post-mortem report revealed that the junior doctor was raped and murdered. The death of the doctor created an uproar in the entire medical college. The Kolkata Police formed an SIT to investigate and arrested a citizen volunteer.

During interrogation, the accused confessed that he had killed the junior doctor. Before the murder, he drank alcohol with her and then forced and killed a junior doctor who was sleeping in the seminar hall. After which he reached home and then drank alcohol and watched porn movies. Later, the police arrested him on the basis of the headphone piece and CCTV footage. Currently he is in 14 days police custody.

Politics heated up, BJP made this demand

Kolkata Junior Dr

Meanwhile, state politics has heated up over the rape and murder case. BJP leaders took to the streets and staged demonstrations. BJP leader Subhendu Adhikari said that the role of RG Kar Medical College Principal Dr Sandeep Ghosh should be investigated. It is known that Ghosh was twice removed from the post of principal of the medical college by the West Bengal health department, but he mysteriously continued in the post. His influence is such that once the government order to remove him was revoked within 48 hours and another time he was removed and transferred to Murshidabad Medical College, but within a month he was again back in RG Kar.

Demanded an impartial investigation

He said that he should be immediately suspended and at least removed from his post for his failure to ensure the safety of doctors and health workers in the hospital premises. His misleading statements and careless attitude after this tragic incident reveal his indifference towards the victim. It is quite possible that people close to him are involved and the police are trying to finish the investigation in a hurry, so that they are not caught. His influence in the circle of power is considerable. Only an impartial and transparent court-supervised CBI inquiry will reveal the circumstances that led to the rape and murder of a PGT (post-graduate trainee) doctor on duty. The police and administration have much more to hide than unbiased investigations to bring out the whole truth.

Kunal also said – investigation is necessary

On the other hand, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said that the police is effectively investigating the RG tax case, one has been arrested. The Chief Minister has rightly taken a tough stance. He can be heard saying suggestive words to investigators in a phone voice recording. A clear indication of who is involved. I don’t know the truth, but an investigation is necessary.
