The way Sandeep Singh has informed about the Oscar submission has led many to feel that independent Veer Savarkar has been sent by the Film Federation of India. However, the Film Federation of India has not given any information on the matter. On Monday, the Film Federation of India announced that out of a list of 29 films, they have decided to send Kiran Rao’s Lapta Ladies as India’s official entry to the Oscars.
What did Sandeep Singh say?
To clear up the confusion, TV9 Hindi Digital spoke to Sandeep Singh. When asked if his film has been sent for Oscar by the Film Federation of India, Sandeep replied yes. But when asked if Missing Ladies was officially dispatched, how was your film dispatched? Sandeep does not answer this saying that he will talk later. In this regard, a source told TV9 that the producers have sent independent Veer Savarkar to the Oscars on their behalf.
What did the foreman of the jury say?
Film Federation of India jury chief Jahnu Barua said on the selection of Missing Ladies, “The jury had to choose a film that represents India in every way. The film was meant to reprint the social order of India. “Indianness is very important, and missing women have become number one in this case.” He said that it is important that the best film that India can present is sent as the official entry. There may be a better film than the 29 nominated films, but the jury can only choose from the films given to them.
