Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday strongly opposed the increase in NSA imposed against Amritpal Singh, saying that the decision was taken by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, which exposed his anti-Sikh face completely.

Issuing a press statement here, Sukhvir Singh Badal said that Shiromani Akali Dal is a symbol of peace and communal harmony in Punjab and will stand by it, as without it prosperity, progress and development are not possible in Punjab.

Violation of constitutional rights

Rising above the party’s ideological differences, Amritpal Singh took a clear stand and said that the decision to increase the NSA was a violation of constitutional rights and human rights in the country. Akali Dal president said that I have already made it clear that Akali Dal is a party based on principles laid down by Guru Sahiban through Gurbani. It doesn’t matter what political price we have to pay for this.

Duty of the Khalsa to oppose oppression

Akali Dal is fully dedicated to peace, unity and communal harmony in Punjab and we also want all parties to rise above political interests and oppose black laws. Our ideological differences with Bhai Amritpal have their place, but Guru Sahiba has taught us this way that even if one’s opponent is being oppressed, it is the duty of the Khalsa to raise one’s voice against it.
