Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who came out of jail on bail from the Supreme Court after almost six months in the Delhi Excise Policy case, has announced his resignation. Addressing Aam Aadmi Party workers on Sunday, Kejriwal said that after two days I am going to resign from the post of Chief Minister, I will not sit on the Chief Minister’s chair until the people elect me back to the seat. This decision may surprise everyone, but it is part of their well-thought-out strategy. Kejriwal has taken a big step to target several political targets by resigning, but it remains to be seen if this decision can set the political narrative for him.
Aam Aadmi Party emerged from the Anna movement against corruption. Arvind Kejriwal and his party people call themselves honest. In such a situation, BJP leaders were constantly raising questions on the image of Aam Aadmi Party and Kejriwal on the issue of Delhi Liquor Policy and demanding Kejriwal’s resignation. Now that ED-CBI has arrested all the people including Aam Aadmi Party leaders in this case, most of them have got bail from the court. In such a situation, Aam Aadmi Party is trying to create a perception among the people that there are many loopholes in the matter related to liquor policy and an attempt has been made to trap the leaders in this matter.
‘Honest or Guilty’
Arvind Kejriwal also said that I have nothing but my honesty, my bank accounts are empty, I quit my job as commissioner of income tax department and was living in a slum. I was passionate about serving the country, I was neither greedy for position nor greedy for money. I have passion to serve country and society. I have come to ask the public whether you consider Kejriwal honest or a criminal? Now I will not sit on the Chief Minister’s chair until the people of Delhi give their verdict. This is how the Aam Aadmi Party has planned to portray its image of honesty.

Part of a well thought out strategy
The Supreme Court has granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal on several conditions. He cannot go to his office or secretariat. He can sign only those files which will be sent to the Lieutenant Governor for further approval. Thus, Kejriwal does not see much scope in Delhi to act as he wishes and with freedom. In such a situation, Kejriwal wants to hold elections soon by recommending resignation and dissolution of the assembly. He demanded that elections in Delhi should be held in November 2024 instead of February 2025. Kejriwal said that the Delhi Assembly elections should be held in November this year along with the Maharashtra elections instead of being held in February next year.
Resignation will send a good message
Aam Aadmi Party hopes to benefit from it. Along with Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia has also decided not to take any post till the elections. Thus BJP also has to make a new strategy, as till now it was planning for 2025 elections. Kejriwal now wants elections in Delhi along with the political heat of Maharashtra and Jharkhand so that the BJP gets stuck in states like Maharashtra and thus cannot focus on the Delhi assembly elections. This will give political advantage to Aam Aadmi Party. Kejriwal feels that his resignation will send a good message to the public, which will benefit him and the Aam Aadmi Party in the long run.
A plan to separate AAP from others
Arvind Kejriwal himself has shocked the BJP and Congress by resigning after getting bail from the court. Kejriwal has come out of jail at a time when assembly elections are going on in Haryana. Aam Aadmi Party has fielded its candidates in all 90 seats in the Haryana assembly elections. Kejriwal himself hails from Haryana. In such a situation, after resigning from the post of CM, Kejriwal will also send a message to the people of Haryana that Aam Aadmi Party is different from others and Kejriwal is not greedy for this post. If there are allegations of corruption, it will be decided in the people’s court.
Political pitch will be played in Haryana too
Kejriwal, who was out for a few days after getting bail from the court during the Lok Sabha elections, had set up a different story. Senior BJP leaders had to come down to clarify when they said that if Narendra Modi comes to power with an absolute majority, he will remove Yogi Adityanath from the post of UP CM. Not only this, he also made many big political moves. It also had an impact on the politics of UP. It is believed that Arvind Kejriwal will now be seen playing openly on the political pitch in Haryana too.
