Politics has heated up over Mangesh Yadav’s encounter with a reward of Rs 1 lakh in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav raised questions about the encounter, to which Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hit back. Meanwhile, Bahujan Samaj chief Mayawati on Monday hit out at both the BJP and the SP, calling both parties thieves and cousins.

Mayawati tweeted on Twitter and said, ‘After the incident of encounter in UP’s Sultanpur district, allegations are being exchanged between BJP and SP regarding law and order. There is a politics of coercion in the name of crime, criminality and caste, when in this respect these two thieves are like cousins. Like the BJP, the law and order situation in the SP government was much worse. People have not forgotten that dalits, other backward classes, poor and traders are robbed and killed day by day by SP goons and mafia.

He said, ‘Actually, ‘rule of law by law’ has remained in Uttar Pradesh only under BSP rule. Justice was given to people without discrimination of caste and religion. There was no fake encounter either. Mayawati warned people that everyone should be aware of the rule of law drama of BJP and SP.

Akhilesh made these allegations

Also questioning the encounter, Akhilesh Yadav said that it seems the ruling party had deep connections with those involved in the Sultanpur robbery, that’s why they contacted the main accused before the fake encounter and got him fast. Other sympathizers who surrendered were only shot in the leg and killed based on their caste. Responding to SP chief’s allegation, CM Yogi said that the Samajwadi Party feels bad when a bandit is killed in a police encounter.

One and a half crore robbery caught on CCTV

In fact, Uttar Pradesh STF killed Mangesh Yadav in an encounter on September 5. A reward of one lakh rupees was announced on him. Mangesh Yadav was accused of committing a robbery at Bharat G Sony Jewelers in Majorganj area, along with four others. The robbery took place on August 28, in which jewelery worth Rs 1.5 crore was looted. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. Meanwhile, the police killed the accused Mangesh Yadav in the encounter and three other dacoits were shot in the legs.
