Three players were killed by lightning in Simdega
The destruction in Jharkhand’s Simdega district, the so-called hockey nursery of the country, turned Independence Day celebrations into mourning. A hockey match was organized here on the eve of Independence Day. The match had just started when suddenly it started raining heavily. To avoid getting wet, the players and spectators took cover under trees, but the same trees were struck by lightning. Immediately three players were badly burned. Due to which he died on the spot.
Five others were also badly injured due to burns. All these people were immediately admitted to the nearest hospital. The incident took place at Jhapla village in Kolebira police station area of ​​Simdega. According to local people, a hockey tournament was organized in the village ground on the occasion of Independence Day. In which the semi-final match was to be held on Wednesday evening of 14th August and the final match was to be held on the morning of 15th August. In this match organized to commemorate the independence celebrations, all the players entered the field to play the semi-final, but suddenly heavy rain started.
Three players died
In such a situation, to save themselves from getting wet, all the players stood under a tree at the side of the field. Meanwhile, lightning suddenly fell from the sky on a tree under which three players and 5 other villagers hid. This not only caused the tree to split, but the three players standing below were also badly burned and died in no time. Five villagers who were standing a short distance from the root of the tree were also badly burnt. All of them were rushed to hospital, where they are in critical condition.

After receiving the information, the police reached the spot and after investigating the case, took the bodies of the three players into their custody and sent them for post-mortem. The deceased players have been identified as Senan Dang, a resident of Enos Bandh, Tutikail Raibeda and Nirmal Horo, a resident of Takrama. Salim Begge, Patrick Begge, Clement Begge, Patras Dang and Jilesh Begge were seriously injured in the incident. All of them are in critical condition and are battling death in the hospital.
