Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh has seen rivers and streams overflow after heavy rains. A case has come up which people are considering as a miracle or God’s will, while some people are calling it God’s displeasure. Actually, the Ganesha idol was installed on the bank of a river but due to heavy rains the river flooded and due to erosion the idol was washed away in the river. Since then, the matter has become a topic of discussion across the region.
This case has come to light from Hata in Damoh district. Where a huge Ganesha idol is installed at the boat ghat of Sunar river during Ganesha festival since long time. People from many parts of the state, including Hata and surrounding areas, come here to worship Ganpati Maharaj. Many kinds of events happen. A grand idol is installed by making a regular pandal on the banks of the river. Ten days later, i.e. on the day of Anant Chaturdashi, Ganapati Bappa is bid farewell and immersed in the same Sunar river with much fanfare.
What is the whole matter?
Bappa’s farewell moments are very emotional. Hundreds of eyes could be seen watering. But this time Ganapati was dissolved four days before Anant Chaturdashi. This immersion was not done by his devotees but Bappa did immersion in Sunar river. In fact, there is a flood-like situation in Hata area due to heavy rains. The water level of Sunar river suddenly rose and broke all records. The flood water even reached the surface of the river gorge, on which Lord Ganesha was seated.
Ganapati soon drowned in the river
When the committee members saw the monstrous shape of the Sunar river, they realized that the water level was not going to go down. What happened next, hastily the pandal decoration, lighting and everything made on the ghat was opened, but no one touched Ganapatiji who sat in his place and he was installed there. Despite the floods and rains, people continued to see the idol of Lord Ganesha and in about two hours the water level of the Sunar river rose so fast that the huge idol was submerged in the river. Whoever saw this rare sight was thrilled and people even considered it a miracle. Perhaps people had never seen such a sight before and had never seen the water level of the Sunar river rise so much.
