Om Prakash Rajbhar’s party’s election symbol changed
Suhelav Bharatiya Samaj Party and Omprakash Rajbhar’s pride of stick election symbol will no longer be with him. Rajbhar’s party has announced that its election symbol will now be key. This symbol has been given to him by the Election Commission. Two months after the Lok Sabha Elections-2024, the party has got a new election symbol. In fact, the SBSP blamed the election symbol for the party’s candidate Arvind Rajbhar’s defeat in Ghosi. He believed that Arvind Rajbhar lost due to confusion over the election symbol. Omprakash Rajbhar decided to replace him only after the results.
The decision was announced at a meeting called in Lucknow on Monday. Meanwhile, Om Prakash Rajbhar was re-elected as the party’s national president. The meeting divided the state organization of the party into four separate regions, namely Purvanchal, Paschimanchal, Bundelkhand and Madhyamanchal.
Why did the party come to the key with a stick?
Omprakash Rajbhar’s son Arvind Rajbhar was the NDA candidate in Ghosi. He had to face defeat at the hands of SP’s Rajiv Rai. Rajbhar was defeated by 1.62 lakh votes. Interestingly, Lilavati Rajbhar of Mulnivasi Samaj Party got 47 thousand 527 votes in the election. The SBSP later alleged that our votes were split due to confusion over the election symbols. Lilavati’s party’s election symbol is a hockey stick which is similar to our party’s iconic stick.

After this SBSP decided to change the symbol to key. According to Omprakash Rajbhar, his party was facing losses in every election because of the stick election symbol. Keeping this in mind, it has now been decided that the main election symbol will be the symbol of the party. Rajbhar said that in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, opposition parties used to field dummy candidates against their candidates using hockey sticks. Because of this, an average of four to six thousand votes were received for hockey instead of stick in every assembly seat. Something similar happened in the last Lok Sabha elections when a woman candidate with hockey symbol got more than 48 thousand votes in Ghosi seat.
Lost the election due to confusion?
After the election, the party told its voters that their election symbol was stuck at the third position from the top in the EVM machine. But, stick and hockey were similar election symbols. So, instead of pressing the stick button in the top third, our voters mistakenly pressed the hockey button in the bottom third. Due to which Lilavati got so many votes. The rumblings of defeat also revealed that some voters were confused between a hockey stick and a stick, which led them to vote for the other.
Meanwhile, Om Prakash Rajbhar announced that his party will also contest the upcoming assembly elections strongly in Bihar. He claimed that his party has influence not only in Uttar Pradesh politics but also in Bihar. Rajbhar has also asked his party leaders to start preparations for the upcoming panchayat polls and assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, Arvind Rajbhar has been made the national general secretary of SBSP and the party’s national treasurer. While his brother Arun Rajbhar has been declared the national spokesperson. Along with this, Premchand Kashyap has been selected as the state president of the party.
SBSP’s presence is mainly in eastern Uttar Pradesh, but to expand its presence to other parts of the state, the party has divided the organization into four zones, each with a president. In this way, there will be four zonal presidents along with one regional president.
