The Parliament session is going on for the swearing in of the newly elected MPs of 18 Lok Sabha and the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker etc. For the post of Lok Sabha Speaker, NDA has once again fielded Om Birla. On the other hand, the opposition has also declared K. Suresh as its candidate for this post this year. Voting for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker will now be held on 26 June. But overall, the expectation is that the election for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker will be unopposed. But this year Congress has chosen this parliamentary option to oppose the role of BJP in the last ten years. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, by this act, wants to suggest to NDA that for the last ten years you have not given us the Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha, so we did not support you for the post of Speaker. Rahul Gandhi wants to suggest that even if we lose this election, we will use the right given by the Constitution.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh received a call from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that he has requested us to support him for the Lok Sabha Speaker election. Rahul Gandhi said that the opposition clearly said that we support the post of Lok Sabha Speaker, give us the post of Deputy Speaker. Rajnath Singh told Mallikarjun Kharge that he would call again tomorrow, but no call came from him. The Prime Minister is saying to cooperate, but our leaders are being insulted. Rahul Gandhi has said that this shows that the rules of the government are not clear.

The post of Lok Sabha Speaker is mentioned in Schedule 93 of the Constitution. After the formation of the new Lok Sabha, the post of Lok Sabha Speaker becomes vacant. And the President appoints a Protem Speaker for the swearing-in of the newly elected MP. The most important thing is that the Lok Sabha Speaker is elected by majority. The person who gets the most votes out of the total number of Lok Sabha members is elected to the post of Lok Sabha Speaker.

When was the last election held?

He was elected the first Lok Sabha Speaker on 15 May 1952. G.V. Mavalkar of the ruling party was the candidate for this post. Shankar Shantaram More was against him. 394 votes were cast in favour of Mavalkar and 55 against him. Thus Mavalkar became the first Lok Sabha Speaker of the country. Before independence, in 1925, elections were held for the Speaker of the lower house of the Central Legislature i.e. the Imperial Legislative Council. From 1925 to 1946, six elections were held for the post of Speaker (Chairman) of the Central Legislative Assembly.

This year the opponents got more strength

The NDA currently has a strength of 293 MPs. This year the number of opposition parties has also increased. Bharat Aghadi has 234 MLAs. Till now the post of Lok Sabha Speaker (Chairman) was given to the ruling party. The opposition also supported this. The post of Vice President was given to the opposition. Thus the balance of power remained. However, since the NDA was not ready to give the post of Vice President to the opposition this time too, instead of supporting the ruling party for the appointment of the President, the opposition fielded its candidate K. Suresh has been appointed. The election for this post is tomorrow on 26 June and it is being said that the NDA will have no problem in proving the majority.
