BJP has started working on a new strategy ahead of assembly elections in Jharkhand. The BJP is now strategizing to cater to over 50 per cent OBCs and about 14 per cent Dalits in the state. In Jharkhand, the BJP has made a big OBC face and former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh the election in-charge. Chauhan visited the homes of OBC and Dalit workers in the state and had meals. The direct message went to the Dalit and OBC voters of the state.

Second, Jharkhand co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the homes of big tribal faces of the BJP one after another. This time BJP is preparing to field big tribal leaders of the state in the assembly elections so as to infiltrate the tribal voters. Along with this, the party has entrusted the responsibility of the BJP chief ministers, senior ministers and chief ministers of various states in the preparations for the assembly elections.

BJP has fielded this leader for ‘Ho’ tribals

For example, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Mazi has been tasked with campaigning among the ‘Ho’ tribes in Jharkhand’s Kolhan region, adjacent to Odisha. Apart from this, Mohan Mazi will also help Santhal tribals in Santhal Pargana. Mohan Mazi himself belongs to the Santhal tribe. There are 18 assembly seats in Santhal Pargana and 14 assembly seats in Kolhan region.

Lord Vishnu also takes care of tribals.

Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Dev Sai has been entrusted with the responsibility of helping the tribals of Chhattisgarh adjoining areas and South Chota Nagpur areas. Similarly, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will visit and campaign in those areas such as Palamu, which is adjacent to UP, and in those areas like the Santhals, which have undergone demographic changes due to illegal immigration from Bangladesh.

Finally why did BJP increase focus on Jharkhand?

BJP feels that Hemant Soren has returned politically stronger from prison. Tribals also sympathize with them. In such a situation, the BJP does not want to leave any stone unturned in the preparations for the Jharkhand elections. Party leaders feel that the victory in Jharkhand will prove helpful for the BJP in scripting a victory in the Bihar assembly elections next year as well.

BJP’s corruption case against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been ineffective. BJP’s seats in the Lok Sabha elections have reduced from 11 to 8. At the same time, JMM’s seat has increased from 1 to 3. BJP has lost all seats reserved for tribals in Jharkhand. Congress and JMM have won all 5 seats safely.
