An incident of molestation of a nurse on night duty has come to light in Ilambazar of Birbhum district. At the same time, Madhyagram of North 24 Parganas has created an uproar after a case of sexual harassment of a minor came to light. Locals clashed with the police in protest. Police released lathi charge and tear gas shells to control the situation. The accused was arrested by Madhyagram police station.
An incident of molestation of a nurse doing night duty has come to light in Ilambazar of Birbhum district. A youth was arrested after this. The arrested person’s name is Sheikh Abbas Uddin. He is thirty years old. He was admitted to Ilambazar Block Health Center due to cold and fever and when the nurse went to see him, the nurse touched his private part.
Women nurses and health workers protested and went on strike in the hospital premises since Sunday morning over the incident that took place at night. He said that we do not want to demand security for two days. We want year-round security of the hospital. We will not do any work until the administration ensures security.

The villagers alleged that the panchayat member’s husband tried to hide the accused. So his house was vandalized. After this, a large number of police forces reached the spot. The police brought the situation under control by lathi-charge and firing tear gas canisters. The accused was arrested by Madhyagram police station.

When Abdul Rob and panchayat member Abdul Hafeez were taken to the Barasat court on charges of molesting a minor girl in Madhyagram, the judge ordered three days of police custody after the police applied for seven days of police custody. A barasat court judge ordered the three-day jail remand of panchayat member Abdul Hafeez, who was arrested in the incident.
