There is a good news for the people of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Metro services in the city will soon extend to 23 km. At present metro service is available only on 9 km track. However, the laying of 14 km of new track under the expansion plan has now been completed and the first trial on this track is scheduled to be conducted on July 10. Metro will start running on this track by March 2025 if there are no major hiccups in this trial. After this, the journey from IIT to Nayaganj will become easier for the people of Kanpur.
According to metro management, currently metro service is available on a total of 9 km track from IIT to Motizil in the city. People have to take auto rickshaw or bus to go beyond this. Tracks have been laid in this corridor. The remaining work will also be completed by March 2025. After this people will be able to travel from Motizil to Nayaganj by Metro.
