Launch of e Malkhana

Food distribution has started at AIIMS Police Station in Gorakhpur district. Now years old case files will be protected in digital format. The police will carry out the case study whenever they want and with just one click the complete information of the criminals and the case will appear on the computer screen. Along with the case, the record of the goods kept in the warehouse will also go online. DIG Anand Kulkarni inaugurated the first e-Malkhana of the district. SSP Dr. Gaurav Grover and SP City along with Krishna Kumar Vishnoi inspected the Malkhana.

The DIG said that when a theft, robbery, robbery or murder is detected, the police collect evidence as well as recover the recovered weapons and articles and store them in warehouses. Its record has been entered in the goods register of the police station. If necessary, it is produced in court. After completion of the judicial process, the recovered goods are released or destroyed on the order of the Magistrate. When the Diwan or Munshi in charge of a Malkhana is changed, it takes more than a month for the records to be handed over to others. After the construction of e-Malkhana, this problem will end. Such arrangements are being made in all the police stations of the range. SSP Dr Gaurav Grover said that the process of making e-malkhana has started in all the police stations of the district.

The word Malkhana is very common in many police related documents. This word comes from Arabic and Persian languages. Malkhana means the place where all the goods and furniture are kept safely. In Hindi we also call it Vakhar. In all districts, police stations are formed according to population. When the police recover arms, money, drugs, jewellery, etc. in any case and make an entry in the diary of the police station, such items become government property. It is called the Jess property.

The goods which are seized in the case are often deposited in warehouses by order of the court. Later, the goods are released from the warehouse of the police station by order of the court. In such a case, during the period of recovery of the goods and their release, whatever goods are seized are kept in the warehouse of the police station. If necessary, the police also produce any seized items in court. The in-charge of Malkhana present in police stations is a police officer of the rank of Head Constable or Sub-Inspector. Although the entire responsibility of the warehouse rests with the station incharge, if the incharge is on leave, the charge is handed over to someone else.

How does e-Malkhana work?

Seized property and evidence collected from the crime scene are stored in boxes. The case number is mentioned along with the details on this box. Its QR code will be generated by uploading the photo on e-Malkhana management system. It will be pasted on the box and details related to the case will also be uploaded on the app. Scanning the QR code will reveal the complete details of the case.
