The central government on Wednesday launched a new service to help those engaged in export and import business. The government on Wednesday launched a trade portal to provide all kinds of information related to exports and imports. The Trade Connect e-platform has been developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank), TCS, Department of Financial Services of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of External Affairs.

Launching the portal, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that this platform will provide all kinds of information including rules related to customs duty and export-import at one place. The portal will work towards empowering exporters and overcoming the problem of lack of information.

Entrepreneurs will connect with foreign embassies

Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) Santosh Kumar Sarangi said this will provide important trade-related information to exporters in real time. It will also connect them with important government institutions and experts like the Indian Embassy abroad, the Department of Commerce and the Export Promotion Council. He said this portal has been designed to help exporters at every stage of export.

This platform will also connect over six lakh IEC (Import-Export Code) holders, over 180 officials of the Indian Embassy, ​​over 600 officials of the Export Promotion Council, besides officials of the DGFT, Department of Commerce and banks.

This portal will be continuously updated.

Minister Piyush Goyal said that the portal will be updated regularly. Based on feedback from stakeholders, it will help launch its second edition in 2025. It will also be launched in regional languages. He said that global trade is in a state of crisis but this is our effort to increase India’s market share in the world.

Santosh Kumar Sarangi said that other services like banking, insurance and logistics will be included in the second edition. Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal said, “This will be a ChatGPT for exporters… We want entrepreneurs to come forward in business. Unless we have entrepreneurs, it will be difficult to achieve the target of exporting goods and services worth $2 trillion (by 2030).
