Party General Secretary Randeep Surjewala has made a major statement on the Congress infighting in Haryana and speculation that Congress leader Kumari Selja will distance herself from the assembly election campaign. Breaking the silence on the matter, he said that Kumari Selja will address the election rally in Narwana on September 26. While posting on X he wrote that he will campaign for Congress on September 26.
Polling in Haryana is scheduled to take place on October 5. In such a situation, the ruling BJP is constantly targeting the Congress to stay away from the Dalit leader’s election campaign. Recently Union Minister and BJP leader Manohar Lal Khattar invited Shelja to join his party. Former Haryana Chief Minister Khattar also pointed to the internal strife in the Congress ahead of the assembly elections. Selja is a big Dalit face of Haryana.

Amid reports of Selja’s displeasure, Surjewala wrote to X on Monday to say he would address 22 public meetings for Congress candidate Satbir Dublen in Narwana. Congress will hoist the victory flag in Haryana. He further said that MP Kumari Selja will also address a public meeting in Narwana on 26th at 12 noon and campaign for the Congress.
Dissatisfaction with ticket distribution
Selja has been away from election campaigning for the past few days and hence there are speculations that he is upset. Selja is believed to be upset that the party has given a free hand to his arch-rival and former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in ticket distribution, as most of the candidates who got tickets are believed to be close to Hooda. These questions are being raised because most of the 17 reserved (SC) seats have been given tickets only to Hooda loyalists.
Selja was absent from many events
Former Union Minister Seljano has a good base in many districts including Sirsa, Ambala and Hisar. Recently, many BJP leaders have been targeting the Congress over the alleged insult of Selja. Selja last participated in the election on September 11 at events organized in support of party candidates Shamsher Singh Gogi and Shaili Chaudhary. Along with this, Selja was not present on the occasion of giving the guarantee by the party at the Congress headquarters in Delhi.
A party leader says that the former union minister does not hold any position in the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee and in such a situation there is no point in questioning his absence. The Congress leader said, ‘Randeep Surjewala and Dipendra Hooda were also not present on the occasion of issuing the guarantee by the party. In such a situation there is no point in questioning the absence of Kumari Selja.
A few days ago Congress leader P Chidambaram also said that there is no difference in the Haryana Pradesh Congress. Chidambaram said that Selja is his good friend. He has not spoken a single word against Bhupendra Singh Hooda nor Mr. Hooda has spoken a single word against Selja. So, we are a united party and will contest elections together.
