According to statistics, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Assam and Odisha are the states with the least urban population.
According to an SBI report on the percentage of people living in which state’s cities, the country’s capital Delhi has the largest population. While 76 percent of Goa’s population lives in cities. While Himachal Pradesh has the least number of people living in cities. According to statistics, only 10 percent of people in Himachal live in cities.
The number of children aged 0-14 has decreased by 6 percent
If we look at the data for the last several years, it is found that the number of children in the country has decreased the most and the number of working people has increased the most. The number of children aged 0-14 has decreased by 6 percent. At the same time, the number of people aged 15-59 increased by 5 percent. Looking at the statistics, the largest number of people in the age group of 15-59 years is 91 crore.
These states have the least number of people living in cities
With the growing population of the country, population in rural areas has increased but in urban areas this number has more than doubled. There are some states which even today have the lowest urban population compared to other states. In Himachal Pradesh, 10 percent of the population lives in cities. While 12.4 percent of the people in Bihar live in cities, only 15.7 percent in Assam and only 19 percent in Odisha. Whereas in Goa the highest 76 percent people live in cities.
The state has the highest urban population
Goa is the first state in the country to have the largest population of 76 percent living in cities. While 77.4 percent of the population of Kerala, 54 percent of Tamil Nadu and 48.8 percent of Maharashtra live in cities. If we talk about Union Territories, the largest number of people live in the cities of Delhi. In terms of numbers, Maharashtra has the highest urban population at 6.2 crore. 5.75 crore in UP and 4.17 crore in Tamil Nadu live in cities.
The urban population in the country was 31.1 percent in 2011, which has now increased to about 37 percent. If we look at the numbers, 16.6 percent of the population is urban. The figure was 16 percent in 2021, an increase of 0.6 percent.
