These Bollywood stars were also accused of sexual exploitation
The film industry is often in the news for one reason or another. Currently, some very serious allegations are being made against some actors of Malayalam cinema. After the Hema Committee report came out, there were revelations like casting couch and sexual harassment of women in the Malayalam film industry. So far, many big names have come forward in this case, due to which the case has become bigger. Not only the actors but also the filmmakers-directors are being accused.
This is not the first time, many actors have been accused of sexual harassment before. When the hashtag #MeToo went viral in the US in 2017, it reached India, then gained momentum in 2018 and soon many Bollywood actresses were accusing many bigwigs of the film industry of sexual harassment.
Nana Patekar
Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar has acted in films like ‘Krantiveer’, ‘Tiranga’, ‘Welcome’, ‘Kaala’, ‘Ab Tak Chappan’, ‘Rajneeti’ and ‘Natasamrat’. On 25 December 2018, 2004 Miss India Universe actress Tanushree Dutta in an interview accused her of sexually harassing her during the shooting of a song from the 2008 film ‘Horn OK Please’. However, Nana dismissed Tanushree’s allegations as false.
Alok Nath
Veteran actor Alok Nath, famous for his cult characters in Bollywood films, has acted in films like ‘Hum Aapke Hai Kaun’, ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hai’, ‘Jeet’ and ‘Gandhi’. So far he has faced four charges of sexual abuse. They include writer and producer Vinta Nanda, actress Sandhya Mridul, actress Deepika Amin and another woman who accused him of sexual harassment. On these allegations, he said that this is an attempt to tarnish his image.
Sajid Khan
Director and scriptwriter Sajid Khan, brother of director and choreographer Farah Khan, who directed films like ‘Hey Baby’, ‘Housefull’ franchise and ‘Humshakals’, has also faced such serious allegations. Three women have so far accused Sajid of sexual harassment, including journalist Karishma Upadhyay, actress Saloni Chopra and actress Rachel White. However, Sajid denied these allegations and called them false.
Kailash kher
Singer and composer Kailash Kher has sung in several Indian languages ​​and won four Filmfare Awards. Kailash Kher was accused of sexual harassment by female photojournalist Natasha Homarjani. After this, singer Sona Mohapatra also accused Kailash of sexual harassment. Kailash Kher clarified on journalist Natasha’s allegations saying that he had no such intention and apologized if Natasha felt anything bad.
Rajat Kapoor
Bollywood actor Rajat Kapoor’s name also came up during the MeToo movement. A female journalist had accused him that Rajat had made objectionable remarks to her during a telephonic interview. Later, clarifying the allegations, Rajat apologized.
