The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert in Delhi-NCR.
It has been raining continuously for a week in Delhi NCR. 233.1 mm rainfall has been received so far in this month. The Meteorological Department estimates that the rainy season is not going to stop here. According to the Delhi Center of Meteorological Department, Delhi NCR will receive Rakshabandhan i.e. rain every day till August 19. Apart from Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad are also likely to receive moderate to heavy rain today on Wednesday. According to the Meteorological Department, Monsoon Turf is currently being observed in North India, especially around the national capital Delhi.
According to meteorologists, monsoon rains have wreaked havoc in Jammu and Kashmir except Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Landslides and lightning incidents are happening in many places. On Wednesday too, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for lightning and stormy rain in many districts of Himachal Pradesh. Currently 213 roads have been cut off in Himachal Pradesh due to rains and floods. Similar apprehensions have been expressed for Uttarakhand.

On the other hand, plains areas of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and different parts of Bengal are receiving continuous rain. Many parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar received above average rainfall. However, there are some areas which have received only one or two good rains so far. If reports from Met department’s Lucknow and Patna centers are to be believed, light to moderate rain is likely at many places today. Many districts of Purvanchal including Banaras, Ghazipur, Ballia, Azamgarh and Ayodhya may receive good rain today.

According to the Meteorological Department, the next week will start with heavy rains in Delhi and surrounding areas. Its rainy season will continue till August 19. After this, the weather will remain humid, but humidity and heat are likely to increase as wind speed slows. Similarly, light to moderate rain is likely over Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan except Delhi and surrounding areas on Independence Day i.e. Thursday. According to the IMD report, heavy rain may occur in some parts of Haryana, Delhi, East and North Rajasthan in the next 24 hours. Similarly, light to moderate rain is likely over Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Kerala and Karnataka.
