An active Monsoon system is causing heavy rains in most parts of the country. Due to rain, the temperature has dropped drastically. Rains have wreaked havoc in the plains and hill states. Heavy rains in Himachal and Uttarakhand have caused rivers to overflow, affecting the plains. The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana including national capital Delhi throughout the week. The Meteorological Department has forecast cloudy skies and rain in Delhi-NCR on Tuesday.

It has been raining heavily in Delhi-NCR for the last four days. It rained continuously throughout the day on Monday as well. Heavy rain during the day and drizzle in the evening made the weather pleasant. People got relief from the heat in this season but problems of waterlogging and traffic jams were created. On Monday, the temperature was recorded 3 degrees below normal. The day’s maximum temperature was recorded at 31.6 degrees Celsius. The night minimum temperature was recorded at 24.8 degrees Celsius which was 2 degrees below normal. The Meteorological Department has issued a severe alert in Delhi-NCR till August 16.

Rivers are rising in UP-Bihar

Heavy rainfall in the hills has changed the picture of the plains. The rivers of UP-Bihar are straining. Bihar’s situation is worst. There are flood like conditions in many areas here. Heavy rain warning has been issued by the Meteorological Department in Araria, Kishanganj, Supaul, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Buxar, Saharsa, Purnia, Katihar, Arwal, Supaul etc districts of the state. There is also a possibility of lightning in many areas of the state on Tuesday.

Heavy rain warning in these states

The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in the hilly states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. According to the IMD bulletin, the weather here will remain bad till August 18 and heavy rains will continue. Rains will continue in the same way in Rajasthan. According to the Meteorological Department, widespread to light/moderate rain is likely over the Western Himalayan region. Apart from this, scattered and widespread rains are likely to occur over the plains of North-West India during the week. Heavy rain is likely at some places over Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan on Tuesday.
