Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh is currently in discussion. It’s in the headlines not because people here set a new record, but because people here are afraid of wolves. Wolves who have now become river eaters. As soon as the night falls, they go out in search of their prey. The victims of these wolves are not animals but humans. His attacks have been going on continuously for almost two months. So far they have claimed 10 lives, including 9 innocent people, while the forest department has also captured four man-eating wolves. Two wolves still roam the area.
About 35 villages in Mahasi Tehsil area of Bahraich are terrorized by these man-eating wolves. 17 teams of forest department are busy to catch the wolves. 200 PAC personnel have been deployed there. 100 squads of villagers are patrolling the villages day and night. The drone is being monitored by cameras. Nets have been installed in the fields. Iron cages are kept at various places to somehow capture these wolves. Although all these arrangements may prove to be insufficient, hence the doll game has also started.
Colorful dolls soaked in baby urine
In fact, the forest department is using colorful dolls soaked in children’s urine to catch these man-eating wolves. These dolls have been placed near wolf resting places and dens along river banks as artificial bait. The dolls have been soaked in children’s urine, so they smell like children and are attracted by wolves.
Ajit Pratap Singh, nodal officer of ‘Operation Wolf’, said that the attacking wolves are constantly changing their positions. They usually hunt at night and return to their dens by morning. In such a situation, our strategy to rescue villagers and children is to confuse them and trap them in traps or cages set up near their dens, away from residential areas.
Wolves will be caught with dolls!
Nodal officer Ajit Pratap Singh said that for this we are collecting information about the location of wolves through thermal drones. Attempts are then made to bring them closer by setting off firecrackers, noise or other means by taking them away from the residential village to a secluded place and setting traps. Wolves mostly target children, so we have placed large child-sized ‘teddy dolls’ near traps and cages.
Nodal officer Ajit Pratap Singh said the ‘teddy dolls’ were dressed in colorful clothes and sprinkled with children’s urine and then kept close to the nets and inside the cages in such a way that it was difficult for the dolls to see whether the human child was sitting or sleeping. is Ajit Pratap Singh said that baby urine can induce wolves to come closer by sensing the natural human scent in a ‘teddy doll’.

They were also killed in large numbers, at that time wolves were declared to be wild animals capable of killing them and were rewarded by the government from 50 paise to one rupee for killing them.
